Understanding the Dark Side of Human Nature by Daniel Breyer
4.0
This is an extremely thorough course, covering world philosophies about well, the dark side of human nature, and every time I thought: hold on go back I need a definition or something, he would go back. I think this course could be more successful if not so much was tackled in it, and he was a little more passionate about his feelings on certain subjects, but also, it’s for a much broader audience than any of my SJLA philosophy courses. For that reason, it’s definitely a course I recommend listening to, Breyer makes the subject matter interesting and accessible, but I found myself wanting to go in a different direction with some of the subjects and wanting to ask questions that would be a little in the weeds for an audio-lecture series even if I could still be in SJLA (honestly, it’s very sad). Also, the lecture on anger was lacking and instead I suggest reading Rebecca DeYoung’s glittering vices.
