The Red Notebook by Antoine Laurain
5.0
A beautiful little book, more a novella than a novel, that I stumbled on in a used bookstore. I love these little discoveries; I love stumbling upon an author I had never known and then being taken away on a journey into their mind.
This book is quite with a good heart. It reminds me a bit of Frederick Backman. It is about a romance of sorts but is not a romance novel. Recently somebody asked me what I like to read and I struggled to answer. He didn't know what I meant by literary fiction, and really, that is such a sup-par categorization. I think I ended up saying that I like to read about people and their interior lives and the lives they live. Not the most elegant way to say it, but that is what I like to read and this book is exactly that.
