Brick by M. Tasia

2.0

This is book 1 in the Fire Lake series by M. Tasia.

Opposites attract romantic suspense. The "first book in a series world building" took up too much of the story. I realize it's novella length but there were so many plot threads that things weren't as developed as I would have liked. Especially in terms of Brick & Roman's relationship. While I enjoy when the mystery/thriller aspect is large part of the story, I want to feel like the MCs had a few conversations before throwing out "I love you". The threat was wrapped up rather simplistically and in a way that undermined the best-of-the-best soldier narrative.

Now that some of the foundation is established I am interested in trying out book 2, Fletcher, too see if the focus is more on the MCs and the suspense.
