Otherwise, you might get lost in Higgins’ misogyny and risk taking it as genuine from the author rather than seeing it as a sharp critique of his character. Though the phonetically-spelled dialect takes some extra time to interpret, it’s not too difficult to understand, and it’s not as prevalent throughout the play as you might expect from the first few pages.
