The Count of Monte Cristo [abridged] by Alexandre Dumas

5.0

Definitely ranked in my top 5 favorite books! Alexander Dumas is one of my favorite authors and he illustrated the power of hate, revenge, and love all together. And one of my favorite quotes was told in this brilliant novel. "There is neither happiness nor unhappiness in this world; there is only the comparison of one state with another. Only a man who has felt ultimate despair is capable of feeling ultimate bliss. It is necessary to have wished for death in order to know how good it is to live.....the sum of all human wisdom will be contained in these two words: Wait and Hope." LOVE IT! The movie did not do it justice in the least, but I watched the making of, and apparently the director didn't really want to bring the book itself to the screen. One of the greatest pieces of literature in the world!
