I really enjoyed this book and although I read the first one in this series I couldn’t recall the characters or the plot. I probably should have reread it first yet, not remembering the first book did not affect the reading of this book. Nonetheless this book is about Hudson and Ember. Hudson is a baseball player in the minor leagues trying to get back into the majors after an injury. Ember meanwhile has been living in a small town with her parents and brothers. Her father and mother make her feel like a second class citizen and she desperately wants to get away from them and their toxicity. So she applies and gets offered a great job in Seattle the same day Hudson is offered his deal with the majors. Now Hudson has told the new team who was worried about him being a playboy that he was married and he must convince Ember to stay married in a marriage of convenience so that he can keep this job. I absolutely loved Hudson, he was all in when he first met Ember. He longs for the sort of marriage his parents have, he’s a great combination of possessive, loving, thoughtful I guess he’s what you would classify as a cinnamon roll. Ember was a confusing mix of shy, timid, curious but she definitely didn’t want to be married or tied down afraid that she would be trapped like her mother. I enjoyed the interactions between these two and the spice is incredible. The romantic gestures and moments between these two are what people in real life hope to have with their person. Great story with a few surprises that really enhanced the story.
