I checked this out from the library knowing basically nothing other than this was a horror manga about spirals, and that it was very highly regarded.

Good gracious. There were times I actually recoiled (heh) from the panels because of the extreme body horror. It's at times gruesome, shocking, tragic, and lovely. Obviously Horror manga ain't for everyone, but if you're slightly interested it's amazing. I will be reading his other larger tomes, like Tomie now that I've finished this one.
