Η μικρή κυρία του μεγάλου σπιτιού by Jack London
3.0
Title: The Little Lady of the Big House
Author: Jack London
A love triangle that leads to a tragic and senseless act... (not what you might think).
I love Jack London, and I had never read this novel. I just finished it for the first time in the Greek language.
It is a very good book; however, it might not be from London's best works, as I like some of his other works better. I would certainly have given it 4, or even 5 stars if it wasn't for the song verses that felt unnecessary and at times dragged on. I wonder if the song verses would make more sense in English than in the Greek translation, and one day I would like to compare how they read in English. Either way, I felt that they didn't add much, if anything, to the story.
As of now, I think it would have been much better as a short story, or it should have been fewer pages than it is. I felt that the end should have come sooner.
Either way, reading it was worth it!
Despite my own opinion about this book not being London's best work, Jack London himself would have disagreed with me. In the book's back cover, Jack London is quoted to have said: "I am very proud for The Little Lady of the Old House. It is a novel entirely new and different than anything I have written so far."
