Silence for the Dead by Simone St. James

I try to write something about every book I finish but I'm struggling with this one. Full disclosure I got to the 90% mark, went to book club, found out what happened, and don't need to finish it. Yet I'm counting it because I was introduced to my favorite character of the year in this book, Matron. She runs the British asylum where the World War I veterans who are battling their ghosts, ie. PTSD, are being hidden away by their wealthy families. There's a few mysteries. A lot of it missed the mark. This wasn't spooky. The protagonist was entertaining enough to keep following around. I needed way more ghosts and way more threat.
