I read this like my life depended on it. There is a sequel to this book but I don’t think I can read it. Not because this book wasn’t good (I seriously considered giving it five stars but it wasn’t QUITE up to par for a perfect rating), but because the twisted, reasonably motivated, cunningly horrifying acts in this book is too much for me to read two of. This book feels like untangling a ball of yarn only to find it retangling behind you in the process. The characters are wonderful and horrible and you find yourself begging for their resolution only to, a page later, wonder if they deserve it at all. There is not one sane person in this story. There is not one insane one. Instead, there are five people desperately tearing each other, and everyone else, apart in the hopes of regaining what they know they can never get back. The series is called Villains, and although I can’t say the name is 100% deserved, there are certainly no heroes.
