Monica by Daniel Clowes

5.0

This has some of Clowes’s best art of his career. Some faces are hilarious, some grotesque and the aging of Monica is masterfully done. There are a few panels that capture so much in a perspective that no one else would see.

And the ending struck me at first as just a big what the hell decision that delighted me in its shift in tone but now it’s sinking in how it was set up to end so big and crazily along the way.

Loved it.
