Dollars for Life: The Anti-Abortion Movement and the Fall of the Republican Establishment by Mary Ziegler

I was looking for something to understand more of the intersection of abortion, religion, and politics, and something specifically to understand how sociopolitical and religious power has been used to influence and shape common beliefs and legislation around abortion. Dollars for Life tackles some of that, but more closely covers the political machinations that have led us to where we are, in pretty specific and neutral terminology (for the most part). Because of this, the book has a constant pace, and is packed with specific details around laws, the political process, campaign spending, etc. I think for someone who is well versed in politics, interested in that level of detail, and can understand what these details imply, this is a great book to explore more of abortion. As I was looking for a different more qualitative approach, this book didn’t really connect as much for me.
