The Forgotten Legion by Ben Kane

4.0

Yet again, another excellent book by Ben Kane. I was lucky enough to find one of his books in the library and took a risk of reading it without not really knowing much about him, and i have read his work constantly since!

This book starts off a bit differently than most of his other ones (it was his first series so i think he changed his style a bit after this) by introducing Fabiola and following her tory as a prostitute. Normally i would find that a bit boring but he injeted some decent fights etc into it and it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be.

The main story to this though is about Crassus taking an army East to try and blatently steal the wealth of the Parthians, he was defeated and 10,000 troops were taken prisoner and made to join the Parthian Army. Seeing as Rome didn't even consider rescuing them they dubbed themselves "The Forgotten Legion".

This story revolves around 2 ex-gladiators who escape the ludus and an Haruspex who is also a bad ass axe maniac. As always, very well written and researched and a genuine pleasure to read. I look forward to reading the next in the series!
