The Devil's Bones by Jefferson Bass
4.0
This installment of the body farm novels picked up right where the last one ended. As the trial is set to begin, Garland Hamilton is on trial for murder. Only he fakes a medical emergency and escapes. In the meantime, Bill is called in to determine how a husband murdered his wife, when she is in Tenn. and he was in Las Vegas. Then the author, rips from the headlines, creamitorium has bodies discoved in the woods. As he works these cases and tries to stay alive protected while Garland hunts for him and terrorizes the campus, this story comes alive. The author has evolved as a writer with the third novel. The first one was very clinical to read and detailed in forensics, the second brought a little life into the world of Dr Brockton. In the third novel, he has Bill work on many cases, some quite complex but has his grief interwoven through all he does. We get more human moments when he returns some missing bones and connects with his son. I can't wait for the next installment of the body farm.
