Murder House by Jordan Castillo Price

adventurous challenging dark emotional funny medium-paced

5.0

Another absolutely cracking adventure.
I'll admit I wasn't overly keen on Victor and Jacob joining the FPMP, but I'm officially sold on that idea now. It's been fun seeing them work together and it's been even better seeing Victor embark on new adventures, new experiences, new mysteries and slowly, but surely, getting his life in a semblance of an order. He's always going to be a complete mess, but I loved seeing him finally receive the respect and admiration he deserves for being an utter badass.
"Murder House" was so fun. The writing was, as usual, beyond riveting and the plot of this tenth book? Absolutely compelling. The ghosts here are even more chilling and disturbing than any of the previous books and I adored seeing Victor try out undercover work: the results were, as expected, utterly hilarious but also totally satisfying. I also loved how, well, romantic and sweet this book was: Jacob doesn't appear much, but he's always on Victor's mind. The way their brief separation affected both of them so badly, was sweet, adorable and utterly devastating. They really love each other to bits.  Their reunion though? God, I swooned.
We get to know Jack Bly a bit better too, and I'm so glad of that! I'm still missing Con and Lisa and Carolyn, but Jack's a pretty interesting and complex character and his and Victor's interactions were so fun.
The ending left me reeling! What the hell is up with Victor's past. I'm jumping into the next book right now.
