The Opposite of Loneliness: Essays and Stories by Marina Keegan

5.0

In this incredible collection of essays and stories, Marina Keegan reveals herself to be a thoughtful, personable, relatable and brilliant writer and individual. Her writing is not written in Old English; she doesn't sound like Shakespeare or Hemmingway or some young writer who thinks she can pretend to sound older and wiser than she is, and get away with it. She sounds like a 21 year old with a passion and a talent for finding the extraordinary or peculiar in the ordinary or the overlooked, for being in constant pursuit of a new angle and new perspective while firmly and confidently maintaining her own beliefs and values. Her insatiable and almost tangible curiosity help her to pick up a pen and crack wide open the wonder and beauty of our world and universe. She is brave and bold in making herself vulnerable, and in always seeking and achieving authenticity and originality in her work. Marina Keegan writes with beauty, genius, confidence, courage, clarity, honesty...and most of all, with sincere heart and spirit. I would highly recommend.
