4.25✨ Overall, I really enjoyed this book by the author of Black Cake. The first half completely captivated me—Ebby, who witnessed her brother’s murder as a child and was then left at the altar, has such a compelling story. The narrative weaves between her journey and the history of her ancestors, and I could see so many exciting directions the story could take. There was even a “thriller” element that I was eager to see unfold. However, the second half took a different turn, focusing more on the family jar. While this was intriguing and historically important, it left many of the other storylines unfinished. Another note: I appreciated the multiple POVs, though staying focused was important since it’s easy to get a little confused.
