Not for me. Not sure who this book is for?

I picked it up because I was longing for a sapphic fairytale. I was comfortable with the YA premise and not bothered by the predictable plot. Sophia is a compelling enough protagonist - she sees the story their town has been fed about Cinderella as just that - a story. But I find it incredibly problematic that she watches one of her best friends be
forcibly ejected from the ball,
does nothing to stand up for her, and later
finds her dead body in the woods!
I was hoping for a little more from her. Similarly, a minor side character from a dress making shop
gets beheaded
and Sophia has to endure watching these traumatic events and is given no agency to help the women. I have no problem with Sophia falling in love with Constance, but I find it extremely devastating
that she could just abandon Erin like that, after finding out that her husband abuses her.
I would say that the writing of this book seems appropriate for young readers, maybe 10-13, but the subject matter is extremely dark, there is a lot of violence, and some swear words, making me question if it’s meant for such a young audience.

Overall, it was an okay read, I liked the premise and the sapphic elements but found the story itself to be frustrating and the writing to be a little lacking.
