This was close to a 4 star read, but fell a little short. I LOVED the childhood second chance romance in this. It was so sweet and touching. What I really appreciated about this book was the thoughtful way it handled a FMC who lost her virginity later in life and had an awful, scarring experience with it. And the MMC's reaction to it as well. I don't read a lot of romance books with this element, and I felt it was handled very well. Their romance kept me turning the pages.
Everything else with the magic and the family was okay and dragged it down half a star for me. This is basically Encanto but less vital to the plot. It just didn't really work for me.
