The Heiress by Rachel Hawkins

5.0

The Heiress may seem to start off slowly at first but believe me you will relish the time to get to know the three main characters from whose point of view the story is told. You will meet Ruby who tells her story through letters as she has been dead for 10 years when the story takes place. Ruby was one of the richest women in NC when she died and also one of the most notorious. Camden is Ruby’s adopted son and sole heir, but he has not touched his enormous inheritance nor been back to NC since his mother died. Last there is Jules – Camden’s wife and the love of his life. Sometimes people are just born cruel as you will read and sometimes people do things that seem cruel but are necessary to survive. And, then there are those in between. It will be up to you to decide whether you understand what they did and why and whether they should be forgiven. As the secrets and confessions started coming in one after the other I could not put the book down.
