Do I recommend this book: 🤷‍♀️
Will I read the next book in the series: 👎

I had high hopes for Gild after all the buzz surrounding it, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to my expectations.

Auren, the golden girl and one of King Midas’s “saddles” (a term for his concubines), is a witty and fun character who brought some charm to the story. However, even her sharp personality wasn’t enough to compel me to continue the series.

While things do happen in the book, none of it felt particularly exciting or memorable. The romance, in particular, fell flat—it just didn’t have the spark or connection I was hoping for.

The writing itself was enjoyable, but the story felt lacking in depth and emotional engagement. I expected to feel more invested in the characters and their relationships, but it just didn’t click for me.

After all the hype, I’m left feeling disappointed. Gild may work for others, but for me, it didn’t deliver on its promise.
