I'm Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid
3.0
Character (3/5)
Plot & Pacing (3/5)
Setting & Surroundings (4/5)
Dialogue & Diction (2.5/5)
Craft & Voice (5/5)
Reading Experience (3.5/5)
Final Rating:
3.5/5 (rounded down, maybe? I think? Truly, I don’t know…maybe it’s closer to 4, or it isn’t?)
Comments:
I….am genuinely not sure if this book was obnoxious or brilliant. My individual parameter ratings are sort of all over the place, but averaged out to a 3.5. I’m truly unsure what to say. This book sort of crawled inside and haunted where it sat. It truly is terrifying in a way that sort of defies explanation. You don’t know why but you feel it. I think I understand what happened in the end…and if I’m right about it, then wow. That was…dark as hell. I am truly not sure how they made a movie out of this book, because it is so conceptual and hard to actually visualize. Real mind-bender.
