I loved the deep characterisation of everyone in the novel. Williams seemed to capture the essence of humans within his characters, so much so that you believe that they are real. You can hate some of the characters but understand their thought processes and what has led them to react that way. The writing was brilliant and was really a contemplation of what it means to live a meaningful life and be human. It felt simple but powerful even though nothing much happened.
