I went back and forth on whether to give this three or four stars, and ended on three stars because I feel like this was just not that memorable. The book ended on a cliffhanger, and normally I'd be racing to the next book, but unfortunately I am just not that invested in this story. The beginning of this book honestly felt like a slog - it was just too predictable and too much like every other romantasy I've read - but it did get better as it went along. Arwen's struggles with her fate are interesting, and the world-building we got was fun. But I didn't find myself that intrigued by Kane and Arwen's relationship, and again, I just didn't care about what happened that much. I'll probably read the last book in this series eventually, but this was a letdown for me.
Moderate: Confinement, Cursing, Death, Gore, Sexual content, Violence, Blood, Kidnapping, Grief, Murder, War, and Injury/Injury detail
