tbh I got turned off by the use of the r-word and was never able to recover. This felt deeply pretentious, quite dry, and incredibly gen-Z (As a genzennial, I’ve found that I’m unfortunately put off by both egregiously millennial and gen z books). It felt like how scrolling through tiktok feels, bite sized chapters that never quite felt real or grounded, which resulted in a feeling of reading whiplash, so my brain lost all of its attention span (as it also does with tiktok, and I had to delete tiktok!). I think this could have been something I liked, there were interesting elements at play, but I just couldn’t get on board with the voice and the vibe.
