HELLO EMO ROMANCE!!! coho has wrecked me again folks!!!
I pretty much went into this one blind because I knew how powerful and beautiful her writing is, and obviously, I knew I was going to read it anyway 🤌🏼 and wow, I wasn’t sure what I was expecting but a emo story with a sideline romance was NOT IT. and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!
sometimes in multiple POV stories, I end up dreading a certain character’s chapters, but with kenna and ledger, I didn’t feel that way at all. the blend between them was so seamless and beautiful.
my emotions were all over the place when I was reading this one, I have to admit (though am I surprised?? not at all). I couldn’t imagine doing what kenna did to land her in prison, but I also couldn’t imagine keeping a mother from her child - even just for a day. I basically was team no one until we started to read more into kenna’s letters.
AND THAT ENDING 🤌🏼 it was everything I hoped for but didn’t expect
disclaimer: I can totally see why a few reviews of friends didn’t like this one. it’s a tough subject with no morally correct answer to solve all of the problems. I do think though it’s a great topic of discussion for book clubs and just friendly chats!!
I’m so glad I was able to snag this one on pub day (even though it sat on my shelf until the other day but ssshhh)!! this is definitely a high coho ranking for me!!!
rating: 5 stars
wine pairing: sonoma coast chardonnay
