Jude, Wilem, JB and Malcom met as dorm roommates in college and this friendship saw them through their lives. Jude however was always the most elusive of the boys, never sharing about his past - “my parents died”, never sharing why he walks with a limp, why he has body spasms that debilitate him. None of it. This book, follows the little life of Jude.

This book is filled with the most horrible things that can happen to a person. There is a need for every trigger warning possible. This book broke me the first time I read it three years ago, and it got to me often again rereading it 3 years later and knowing most of what happens. But so much happens and there were events I forgot that affected me freshly again. Don’t read this book if you’re not in a good headspace. Look into trigger warnings. And just remember - just because it’s quite beloved, doesn’t always mean it’s a book you need to read. When I read this 3 years ago it was a from 5⭐️ for me. Reading it again now, it was slow and complicated in parts which affected some of my love for the story.
