Turtles All the Way Down by John Green

4.0

This struck a strong cord with me. As someone who struggles with mental illness daily, and maybe not on the same level as Aza, parts of this book hit me like a ton of bricks. I could feel those mind spirals so intensely because I have been there so so many times. I wanted to reach inside this book and give her a huge hug. In my current mental health battle, it was hard to swallow sometimes, and I felt like by reading about Aza, I was reading a little something about myself as well.
I read some other reviews and people tend to complain about John Green’s overly philosophical writing but I honestly enjoy it. The way he writes is similar to my own inner monologues so I can always deeply relate to his characters.
Even if you don’t suffer from mental illness I think this is an important book to read. Everything was spot on and although it took me a bit to decide how I felt about the ending, I think it ended how it should have. This wanted a “happily ever after” kind of book and that’s okay.
Not my favorite John Green book, but I loved it nonetheless.
