I'm Afraid of Men by Vivek Shraya

5.0

"I’m afraid of men because it was men who taught me to fear. I’m afraid of men because it was men who taught me to fear the word girl by turning it into a weapon they used to hurt me. I’m afraid of men because it was men who taught me to hate and eventually destroy my femininity. I’m afraid of men because it was men who taught me to fear the extraordinary parts of myself.”

Short but powerful! I'm Afraid of Men is a very moving and eye-opening piece about how mistreated women and the LGBTQ++ community are in the patriarchy. It brilliantly and eloquently evoked raw emotions in how the author described her masculinity and feminity from her childhood to adulthood, especially with her struggles within the society.
