What My Mother and I Don't Talk about: Fifteen Writers Break the Silence by Michele Filgate

5.0

Loved this. I’ve been thinking a lot about how the wisdom and knowledge and experiences of our mothers and their mothers and their mothers etc. live within us and shape our perspective and the way we navigate the world. Why don’t we talk about it? Bc it’s uncomf and we value our relationships with the woman who raised us, no matter how strained they’ve become. It’s scary to think about losing them. But one thing this book reminded me of is the strength and reach of a mother’s love. Breaking the silence is such a small risk for all of the growth and strengthening that is bound to come.

I’m lucky to have a strong, healthy relationship with my mom and I still feel inspired to know her more and talk about the things that we don’t.
