Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
4.0
despite this having taken me nearly an entire year to complete this book, it was rlly good! i was in a massive slump w/ this book (didn’t help with its long ass chapters) so i picked up the audiobook instead!! the narrator did a wonderful job, rlly enjoyed the way they made the story come to life.
the way the parents treated their other kids outside of lydia was very frustrating and i couldn’t help but slightly dislike her at first. it wasn’t until i got her pov how wrong i was about her and what she was going thru. my heart went out to nathan and hannah seeing how neglected they were by their parents. i will say i predicted jack’s crush on nathan which shocked me but looking back at the flashbacks it makes sense.
james and marilyn imo were the most frustrating but understandable characters, wanting nothing but the best for their child, everything they never got to achieve when they were younger. coming from immigrant parents myself i can see and understand why james made the decisions he did, the way he acted with his life moving forward.
