It's hard to end a fantasy series in a way that does justice to the arc of the story, so I applaud Lynette Noni for pulling it off. This is a powerful last installment that touches on incredibly heavy topics in a way that feels gentle and respectful. Kiva's emotional journey is incredibly well done, and the communication between all the characters felt really cathartic. There were some twists I didn't see coming, which is always fun in a last book, and I was so satisfied by the way things wrapped up. I also appreciate that Noni didn't drag out the story - sometimes fantasy series have a couple books in the middle that are quite sluggish. I'm so glad my friend Gaby recommended this series!!!
I was a little disappointed that there wasn't an epilogue, but I also thought it was fitting and moving that it ended on "Now, we dream." All these characters are so young and have so much life ahead of them, and it was such a hopeful note to end on.
