I just love rereading my favorite books from childhood! It’s not only fun to walk down memory lane. I also feel like I get more or new things out of visiting these stories as an adult. Like wow I’m so thankful I don’t have to deal with algebra homework and finding a date to the dance anymore! This book was so influential in my preteen years, and I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I completely copied Mia’s writing style in my own journals back then. Now in retrospect I see that as an interesting writing exercise! Anyway this is such a fun read that for the most part aged well (just a few bits here and there that didn’t). If you’ve only seen the movie, be prepared for a much different story and a much meaner grandma! Book grandmère is no Julie Andrews.
