This book made me so stressed. From about the 60% mark, I didn't want to put it down because I needed to know everything was going to turn out okay. This is a book that really asks what the solutions are and if peaceful resistance is even possible. There's questionable morals in the face of survival and the answers are always messy. Every moment was heart-wrenching or heart-pounding and often both.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting to love this as much as I did. Of all of White's books, this premise had me the least excited. But there is something so raw in this story that it just affected me in such unexpected ways. I can't even form a coherent review because this was just an emotional and cathartic read.
I really, really recommend this if the content warnings won't put you off.
