I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I’ll break down some of the specific thoughts I had.
What I liked:
• The characters and their mannerisms were well developed
• The setting. New Mexico isn’t a setting I read about often. So it was cool to have that.
• The plot
• The general idea of a cancer patient looking to help solve a cold case
• The graphic nature of describing certain cancer-related things. That sounds macabre, but having had multiple family member with cancer, I appreciated the thoroughness.
What I didn’t like:
• The flashbacks were sometimes confusing. I found myself scanning back to them to try and put the pieces of the story together.
• I don’t think I fully understand the Dale vs. Curtis dynamic
• The familial relationships between the characters confused me. I was having trouble understanding who was related to who.
NOTE: heed the trigger warnings. Some of this book is not easy to read!
