None of This Would Have Happened if Prince Were Alive by Carolyn Prusa

4.0

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this - I'm not a Prince fan (I'm not against him, but I'm the wrong generation and I couldn't name any of his songs) - but the title intrigued me and I like to try out books that are outside of my preferred genres every now and then.

Well, I did like it. I liked the setting - the recent past with Trump and Clinton battling for the U.S.A. (one has to laugh ironically at the U - the states may be united under one government, but there's no unity in the country); the coastal city about to be besieged by a hurricane (living in a country that has just suffered a cyclone and weather bombs, I could totally relate to that); the emotional state of Ramona (I don't think I'm anything like her, but I could understand what she was going through and how it had all got to that point).

PS. In the process of writing this review - thinking what I liked and why - I've upped my stars from 3 to 4 because the author wrote a character that I could empathise with, and a plot that moved vigorously.
