Long Bright River by Liz Moore
5.0
I’m blown away by this novel. I read the synopsis but I wasn’t sure what to expect. I thought it would be super triggering for me considering that I lost my sister to addiction among other family members and friends. It’s a terrible consuming epidemic and this book captures pretty accurately the awfulness of it. It’s well written. The character development is amazing. I will say it is a slow burn. A lot of back story & character development in the first 200 pages. It is a mystery but I felt it more a family drama. Even still I was captivated and it was hard to put down. I related to the main character in many ways. Her loneliness, feeling like the black sheep of the family, trouble making friends. So it was easy for me to get lost in the story. I wanted to know what happened with Kacey. With the women being murdered! There were some surprises buried in there too that really hit me!
I find it hard to express my feelings on this book. I will say I enjoyed it far more than I anticipated. It was more in depth than I thought it would be. It’s more than just a mystery novel. It’s emotional, raw and real. Definite five stars. Just read it.
