This one is definitely the best book in the series so far so I’m glad I decided to stick it out to finish the original trilogy. This is the last one for me but I actually enjoyed it. I listened to it entirely on audiobook but I made the mistake of listening to it when I ran errands… I’m pretty sure the people around me thought I was insane. I was grinning, laughing, biting my tongue when I wanted to tell Adam to go to hell, and jumping around like an idiot. So, yeah, I’ve officially embarrassed myself enough for the day but my point is, unlike the other two in the original trilogy, this one was actually worth reading. Honestly, the perfection that is Aaron Warner alone makes it worth it to me.
Don’t kid yourself, though, I still had a lot of problems with it. My biggest ick, so to speak, was of course Juliette. She can be so ridiculous. Example A: “I’ve always known, deep down, who should be leading this resistance. I’ve felt it quietly for some time now, always too scared to bring the words to my lips. Someone who’s got nothing left to lose and everything to gain. Someone no longer afraid of anyone. Not Castle. Not Kenji. Not Adam. Not even Warner. It should be me.” Girl, no. She’s so all over the place that she can barely handle herself, much less an entire rebellion. But, I have to give her credit. She grew a lot throughout the series and I began to like her more (but still not a lot) after she finally told Adam off and began to actually think like a rational human.
4 stars, purely for Warner.
