Dukes of Ruin by Angel Lawson, Samantha Rue

3.0

Really more of a 3.5.

I was apprehensive about reading a new batch of hornballs of Forsyth Uni so fresh out of Lords. Still not over Dimitri Rathbone, tbh. But Rath does appear in this book a bit, which made my heart glow.

Anyway. This book moves on to the Dukes (DKZ) of FU, and their Duchess, Lavinia Lucia who was introduced to us in Lords. She's a real donkey. An ass. A spitter and a kicker. Rath will agree.

The difference between Dukes and Lords is the relatively slow burn. Lavinia is still used and abused all kinds of ways except for P in V (it's complicated) at the Dukes tower, but there's a crawl to all of it that's fresh for a dark romance (not that I read a lot of these).

And speaking of Rath, I'm getting a new-ish version of him here in the form of Remington Maddox (Remy). Our little lunatic who can't stop talking about and counting stars, doodling on skin, and adorably calling Lavinia "Vinny". He's depraved like Nick and Sy, but in a way that's still soft around the edges.
SpoilerWhen he found out Nick gave Vinny back to Lionel and Perez, he was so upset. T___T
.

Sy took a bit to warm up to me. He was giving Killian vibes--gruff and in outward denial of his attraction to the fmc.
SpoilerBut he rescued Lavinia from the torture chest at Lionel's, risking life and limb in doing so, and that's honestly kinda sweet of him.
