The Girl Next Door by Phoebe Morgan

DNF…I love suspenseful domestic thriller but I’m absolutely sick of domestic violence being used as a plot device. It always allows the author to make the women as dumb and weak willed as possible. I hate it. Claire is a young woman in high school who has gone missing and her parents are gutted. She’s soon found dead and the mystery takes off from there. Her parents are Rachel and Ian (stepdad)
Most of the stories told from Jane‘s point of view. Jane is the woman who is married to Jack. Their relationship is toxic and abusive. Jane is also obsessed with the fact that her husband is a doctor and that she is therefore, a doctor’s wife. Seriously no one gives a shit. Her situation is sad but again the DV plot device is so overused and it was distracting so I couldn’t finish it.
