Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
5.0
The writing style took me a while to get use to, but I was so intrigued where this was all going - I was hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.
The characters, especially Verity, were so vivid and I got so emotionally attached. So very emotionally attached.
This book honestly shattered me. And I'm still shattered.

I cried so much when I horribly realised that Julie wasn't going to get out of this alive and I cried even harder when she cried out to Maddie "KISS ME, HARDY! Kiss me, QUICK!". Oh god, I'm in tears as I write this. So bloody heart breaking. I cried for Julie, I cried for Maddie having to kill her best friend, and for all those brave souls that were lost in wars doing what needed to be done. This book honestly shattered me. And I'm still shattered.
