North Woods by Daniel Mason

This book was like a long string of thread that connected all living things-from the squirrel to the tree, from the orchard to the farmer. I just can’t quite put into words how much I loved this book. So many different stories, perspectives, and emotions and it filled me with empathy.

“Passion sometimes gets the better of Reason.”

“…she has found that the only way to understand the world as something other than a tale of loss is to see it as a tale of change.”

“‘Witness trees’…an old term of trade for trees that marked invisible boundaries. Now also used for those that were present at important moments in our history. In other words: the ones that witnessed us.”
