Life Ceremony by Sayaka Murata
5.0
Cannibalism has never been more heartfelt.
Continuing my usual tradition with Sayaka Murata books, I unintentionally read it all at once. Rarely for a short story collection, very few felt disposable or like padding - they were all intriguing in their own way and left me wanting more from their respective worlds.
The way she explores bizarre, perverse, and unconventional subjects in a way that feels totally rational and reasonable (in all of her writing) is something that really works for me. A lot of these stories will sit in my head for a while, for better or worse. I'm very uncomfortable and I will read everything she ever writes
Also, best ending sentence to any book ever I think
