Murder Most Actual by Alexis Hall
3.0
so, i DNF a lot of romances because i get bored and i know what's going to happen (in general, not in specific) and i had the impulse to DNF this one, but i kept with it because i wanted to know the answer. as usual, it was too ridiculous to be really satisfying.
as someone who is kind of the Hanna in my marriage, I did feel that it was interesting to get LIza's perspective.
i think what i find so compelling about the agatha christie/pd james style mysteries is the unfolding layers of info about all the characters. all the suspects in this one seemed pretty one dimensional. and then half of them died before you really got to know them.
so far I haven't loved any Alexis Halls with a female main. Kate Kane, Lady for a Duke, this one, the Affair of the Mysterious Letter. I did love the Spires books I have read so far, i mostly loved something fabulous. wait, i take it back, i also loved there will be phlogiston. anyway alexis has plenty more MMs so i might just stick to those. maybe the pattern doesn't mean anything?
