I love it when a story surprises me - and Six Scorched Roses was way better than I expected it to be. I seem to be enjoying Broadbents writing more and more with every book of hers I read. I also really liked how the plot played out in this, and especially the Beauty and the Beast vibes it gave. This felt like the origin story of a couple we will hopefully see a lot more from in the next books!!
