Der Wendekreis der Schlangen by Marie Brennan
2.0
As the Khaleesi put it so eloquently: "WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS?"
This was so focused on confusing politics and a complicated conflict that it seemed to completely forget why they all were there in the first place - you know, those awesome dangerous creatures with wings and teeth and stuff. I fell in love with the first book because the dragons were so believable and masterfully intertwined with the world they lived in - and the sequel unfortunately downgraded them to something that, yes, was always kind of there, but never in the focus, more like they were photobombing a political intrigue.
Plus (but this might have been just due to the German translation), the choice of words and writing style was quite repetitive.
I will read the third book because I'm not ready to give up my hopes yet, but this one was just not my cup of tea.
