Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo

3,5/5 stars
Took me a long time to finish this book and I actually cant believe I actually finished it because, boy oh boy, did I come close to DNF’ing it /multiple/ times.. Even read a spoilery recap of the book at one point to try and get myself motivated (it helped, and somehow I was still left surprised at some points).
I mean, I liked this book, I LOVED the final section like maybe the final 100 pages. Other than that I was underwhelmed and sort of angry because I wanted the Darkling to get his redemption arc, but I’m glad to say I feel satisfied and acknowledged by how things wrapped up. I honestly loved the ending, everything wrapped up nicely and I felt satisfied with the answers and explanations for actions I got.
Despite the fact I could barely get myself to care for any characters other than Nikolai and the Darkling nor for the plot for most part of the book, I cried like a baby like 3 times at the end of the book. Leigh’s writing is just so so beautiful and for that fact I cant WAIT to FINALLY read Six of Crows and you bet I’m also currently buying King of Scars, I’m so so so excited I’ve waited so long for this moment!
