Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu

wow wow!!!
a beautifully written satire about the Asian American experience in the US through the eyes of Willis Wu, a Generic Asian Man.
Written as a TV script, we follow Willis through the many roles he plays - Generic Asian Man Three, Background Oriental Man - and how he climbs up the ladder in hopes of finally reaching Kung Fu Guy status. The book is witty and funny, and often bleak and self-aware — I found myself often closing the book and taking some time away from it as a lot of the realities hit close to home (being a Somewhat Successful Asian Woman).
Overall, a unique and moving book; I’ll definitely give this a re-read sometime soon!
