The Measure by Nikki Erlick
5.0
This book is pure gold. And as a debut novel? WOW.
Can you imagine everything that might happen if you woke up one morning to find a box on your doorstep that contained the answer to just how long you were going to live? Would you open it? What if someone else opened it for you? What if you r job required you to open it? What if the entire world began judging people based on how long they would live?
Nikki Erlick captures all of this and far more in this phenomenal story, weaving together stories from various narrators in order to present as many of the possibilities that might arise. There’s an enemy you’ll love to hate, and characters you’ll be rooting for. There are twists you won’t see coming, and questions Erlick poses you won’t have considered.
I cannot recommend this book enough. It’s definitely one that will make you think. And in my own personal opinion, it relates far too heavily to the way we interact and judge one another in today’s world, too.
