52 Times Britain was a Bellend: The History You Didn't Get Taught At School by James Felton

2.0

Probably the worst book I've ever read. It smacks of racism, it is biased, it has too much unnecessary foul language (and that is coming from someone who can swear like a trooper) and worst of all, it is endorsed by the most annoying, ignorant and arrogant man on the planet, James O'Brien, a supposed journalist who debauches my favourite radio station, LBC. That alone should stop people from reading it.

Felton has picked the worst part of British history and made us out to be killers, rapists, murderers, racists and everything diabolical in between. He has shown one side of that particular part of history and villified his own country. He his lucky he is alive today because less than one hundred years ago he would have been hanged (and not has he incorrectly kept saying in is book, 'hung') for treason. More's the pity.

Now, I'm not saying that the British are saints, of course we're not, we have done things we shouldn't have but you could take any major country in the world; America, Canada, Australia, most of Europe, most of Asia, most of Africa, India, Pakistan and virtually anyone else, pick out the worst of their history and do exactly the same racist crap as this. It is hardly a book that has been thoroughly researched, you could find all this on Google. It ain't rocket science and yet people buy this and feed this man's lifestyle.

This was classed as comedy, which is why I bought it but it was far from that. The only good thing about this drivel, which you will find contextually is incorrect, in the main, is that it was short at around 150 pages. Any longer and it would have been filed under 'B', standing for both 'Bin', 'Biased' and 'Bullshit'.

Save your money. It's literally not worth the paper it's written on.
